1. Overview

Welcome to Apothecary Journal.

The terms “we”, “us” and “our” refer to Apothecary Journal. We operate this website and provide digital products, printable resources, creative guides and related content through apothecaryjournal.com.

Our website is hosted by Squarespace, which provides the ecommerce platform through which our products are displayed and sold.

These Terms & Conditions, together with our Privacy Policy, Refund Policy and Digital Delivery Policy, explain the terms that apply when you browse our website or purchase our products.

By using our website or purchasing from us, you agree to these Terms.

Nothing in these Terms affects your statutory rights under UK consumer law.

2. Using Our Website

You may use this website for lawful personal purposes.

You must not:

  • use the website for unlawful or fraudulent purposes

  • attempt to interfere with the security or operation of the website

  • introduce viruses, malware or other harmful technology

  • scrape, copy or systematically extract website content without permission

  • impersonate another person

  • misuse our payment or checkout systems

  • use our content in a way that infringes our intellectual property rights or those of another person

We may restrict access to the website where reasonably necessary to protect the website, our customers or our business.

3. Our Products

Apothecary Journal primarily sells digital products.

These may include:

  • downloadable PDF guides

  • printable journal pages

  • digital ephemera

  • botanical and apothecary-themed resources

  • creative companion guides

  • digital bundles

  • downloadable imagery

  • templates and other creative materials

Unless a product page specifically states otherwise, no physical product will be supplied or posted.

We make reasonable efforts to ensure product descriptions, images and previews accurately represent what you will receive.

However, colours may appear differently depending on your device, monitor, printer, ink and paper.

Product mock-ups may also show digital pages or artwork presented in physical settings for illustrative purposes.

4. Creative and Historical Content

Apothecary Journal products are created primarily for creative journaling, crafting, storytelling and decorative purposes.

References to:

  • herbs

  • remedies

  • potions

  • plants

  • botanical properties

  • alchemy

  • historical preparations

  • magical or folkloric uses

may be fictional, decorative, historical or creative in nature.

Our products are not medical, pharmaceutical, health or herbal-treatment advice.

Do not consume, prepare or administer any substance based solely on information contained within our products.

If you require medical or health advice, consult an appropriately qualified healthcare professional.

5. Orders

When you submit an order, you are offering to purchase the selected product at the stated price.

Your order is accepted when:

  • payment has been successfully authorised, and

  • we provide confirmation of your purchase.

We reserve the right to reject or cancel an order where reasonably necessary, including where:

  • payment cannot be authorised

  • there is an obvious pricing or technical error

  • fraud or unauthorised activity is suspected

  • the product is unavailable because of a technical issue

  • an order breaches these Terms

If we cancel an order after payment has been taken, we will refund the amount paid where appropriate.

Please check your order carefully before submitting it.

6. Prices and Payment

Prices displayed on our website may be shown in GBP, USD or another supported currency depending on the website or checkout configuration.

The price charged will be the price shown at checkout when your order is placed.

Where required, applicable taxes will either be included in the displayed price or calculated and displayed during checkout.

We may change prices at any time, but this will not affect an order that has already been accepted.

Payment processing may be provided by third-party payment providers.

You confirm that:

  • the payment information you provide is accurate

  • you are authorised to use the selected payment method

  • sufficient funds or credit are available to complete the purchase

7. Promotions and Discounts

From time to time, we may offer:

  • introductory prices

  • promotional discounts

  • anniversary offers

  • bundles

  • limited-time offers

  • bonus products

  • discount codes

Promotions may have separate terms.

We may amend or end a promotion at any time, provided this does not affect purchases already completed.

Any stated comparison price, discount or promotional saving will be presented in accordance with applicable UK consumer law.

8. Digital Delivery

Digital purchases are normally supplied electronically after successful payment.

Delivery may take place through:

  • an immediate download

  • a download link

  • an email

  • multiple download links

  • a downloadable ZIP folder

Full details are set out in our Digital Delivery Policy.

No shipping charge applies to purely digital products.

9. Immediate Digital Delivery and Cancellation Rights

UK consumers normally have a 14-day cancellation period for distance contracts.

However, special rules apply to digital content.

Where you request immediate access to digital content, we may ask you to:

  • expressly consent to delivery beginning immediately, and

  • acknowledge that once delivery begins, you lose the normal 14-day right to cancel.

This does not remove your statutory rights if digital content is faulty, not as described or does not meet applicable legal standards.

Please see our Refund Policy for more information.

10. Refunds

Because our products are digital and can normally be accessed immediately, we do not generally provide change-of-mind refunds once digital delivery has begun where the applicable cancellation right has been validly waived.

However, your statutory rights remain unaffected.

Refunds may be available where, for example:

  • the digital content is faulty

  • the product is materially different from its description

  • we cannot supply the purchased content

  • you have accidentally been charged twice

  • UK consumer law otherwise entitles you to a remedy

Please see our Refund Policy.

11. Personal-Use Licence

Unless a product page expressly states otherwise, purchasing an Apothecary Journal product gives you a personal-use licence only.

You may:

  • download your purchased files

  • save them to your own devices

  • print copies for your own personal journaling and crafting

  • cut, distress, layer and alter printed elements for your own projects

  • use the materials within personal journals you create for yourself

You may not:

  • resell the original digital files

  • redistribute the files

  • share them with others

  • upload them to file-sharing services

  • give purchasers access to your download link

  • reproduce the files as another downloadable product

  • resell printable sheets individually

  • claim our designs, artwork or written materials as your own

  • use substantial portions of our products to create competing digital products

  • use our materials for commercial resale unless a commercial licence is expressly provided

Purchasing a product transfers a licence to use it. It does not transfer copyright ownership.

12. Intellectual Property

Unless otherwise stated, the website and its original content, including:

  • branding

  • logos

  • illustrations

  • graphics

  • layouts

  • written content

  • downloadable guides

  • printable designs

  • product imagery

  • marketing materials

are owned by or licensed to Apothecary Journal and are protected by applicable intellectual property laws.

All rights not expressly granted are reserved.

You may not reproduce, republish, commercially exploit or distribute our intellectual property without permission.

13. Printing and Crafting Results

Our printable products are designed to be used with a wide variety of papers, printers, inks and craft materials.

Results may therefore vary.

Differences may arise because of:

  • printer quality

  • printer settings

  • paper type

  • ink

  • scaling

  • cutting

  • screen calibration

  • individual crafting techniques

We cannot guarantee that a printed product will look exactly identical to its on-screen preview.

This does not affect your rights where the underlying digital file itself is faulty or materially different from its description.

14. Customer Responsibilities

Before purchasing, you are responsible for checking:

  • the product description

  • the supplied file format

  • the intended use of the product

  • whether your device can open the supplied files

  • whether you have suitable printing equipment if you intend to print the product

You are also responsible for providing an accurate email address during checkout.

15. Website Availability

We aim to keep our website available and functioning correctly.

However, we cannot guarantee uninterrupted access.

Temporary interruption may occur because of:

  • maintenance

  • Squarespace outages

  • payment-provider problems

  • technical faults

  • security issues

  • events outside our reasonable control

Where a technical problem prevents access to a purchased product, contact us and we will make reasonable efforts to restore access.

16. Third-Party Services

We use third-party services to operate our website and process transactions.

These may include:

  • Squarespace

  • payment processors

  • email providers

  • analytics providers

  • advertising services

  • digital-delivery services

Those services may have their own terms and privacy policies.

Purchases from Apothecary Journal are nevertheless contracts between you and Apothecary Journal, not between you and Squarespace.

17. Third-Party Links

Our website may contain links to third-party websites, products or resources.

We do not control those websites and are not responsible for their:

  • content

  • security

  • privacy practices

  • availability

  • products or services

Visiting a third-party website is at your own discretion.

18. Reviews, Feedback and Customer Content

If you voluntarily submit a review, testimonial, image, comment or other feedback to Apothecary Journal, you confirm that:

  • the content reflects your genuine experience

  • you have the right to submit it

  • it does not infringe another person’s rights

  • it is not unlawful, defamatory or misleading

Where you provide permission for us to use your review or submitted content, we may reproduce it for reasonable business and marketing purposes.

19. AI-Assisted Content

Some Apothecary Journal products may be created or developed with the assistance of artificial intelligence tools, alongside major human direction, editing, design, selection and quality review.

AI may assist with elements such as:

  • imagery and illustrations

  • decorative elements

  • written drafts

  • layout concepts

  • design development

  • creative concepts and ideation

AI-assisted material is reviewed, selected, edited and incorporated into the final products before those products are offered for sale.

We make reasonable efforts to check products for errors, visual inconsistencies and other issues before publication.

Because AI-generated or AI-assisted creative material may occasionally contain imperfections or inconsistencies, minor variations of this nature do not necessarily mean that a product is faulty.

This does not affect your statutory rights where a purchased product is materially defective, not as described or otherwise fails to meet the requirements of applicable consumer law.

20. Errors and Corrections

Occasionally, the website or our digital products may contain:

  • typographical errors

  • incorrect prices

  • missing information

  • outdated descriptions

  • technical errors

  • minor design inconsistencies

We may correct these when discovered.

If an error materially affects a product you have already purchased, we will take reasonable steps to correct the issue and, where appropriate, provide a replacement, cancellation or refund in accordance with your legal rights.

21. Prohibited Use of Our Digital Products

You must not use our products:

  • for unlawful purposes

  • to infringe another person’s rights

  • to misrepresent our work as your own

  • to create counterfeit or deceptive products

  • for mass redistribution

  • as datasets for commercial resale

  • to train or develop competing commercial products using our files as source material

  • in a way that breaches the licence supplied with the product

22. Disclaimers

We aim to provide high-quality creative resources, but creative outcomes are subjective.

We do not guarantee that:

  • every customer will achieve identical artistic results

  • use of a product will produce a particular creative outcome

  • your journal will look exactly like examples shown

  • purchasing our products will produce financial or commercial results

Nothing on this website constitutes professional medical, legal, financial or other regulated professional advice.

References to herbs, remedies, potions, plants, botanical properties, alchemy or historical preparations may be fictional, decorative, historical or creative in nature.

Do not consume, prepare or administer any substance based solely on information contained in our products.

23. Limitation of Liability

Nothing in these Terms excludes or restricts liability where it would be unlawful to do so.

In particular, nothing excludes liability for:

  • death or personal injury caused by negligence

  • fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation

  • rights that cannot legally be excluded under UK consumer law

Subject to those protections, we will not be responsible for losses that were not reasonably foreseeable when the contract was formed.

Where you are purchasing as a consumer, these Terms do not limit the remedies available to you under consumer law.

24. Events Outside Our Control

We will not be responsible for delay or failure caused by events outside our reasonable control.

This may include:

  • widespread internet outages

  • payment-system failures

  • platform outages

  • natural disasters

  • government restrictions

  • major cybersecurity incidents

Where possible, we will take reasonable steps to minimise disruption.

25. Privacy

Personal information collected through our website is handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

Our Privacy Policy explains:

  • what information we collect

  • why we use it

  • who we share it with

  • how long it may be retained

  • your rights under UK data-protection law

26. Cookies

Our website may use cookies and similar technologies for:

  • essential website functionality

  • analytics

  • preferences

  • advertising

  • measuring marketing performance

Where required, non-essential cookies will be used only after consent has been obtained.

Further information is available through our cookie settings and Privacy Policy.

27. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms when:

  • our products change

  • our website functionality changes

  • we use different service providers

  • legal or regulatory requirements change

The latest version will always appear on this page.

Changes will not retrospectively remove rights relating to purchases already completed.

28. Severability

If any part of these Terms is found to be unlawful or unenforceable, that part will be treated as removed to the minimum extent necessary.

The remainder of the Terms will continue to apply.

29. No Waiver

If we do not immediately enforce a right under these Terms, this does not mean that we waive that right.

30. Governing Law

These Terms and purchases made through our website are governed by the laws of England and Wales.

If you are a consumer living elsewhere in the UK, you may also have the benefit of mandatory consumer protections applicable where you live.

Nothing in this section removes any consumer rights regarding where proceedings may legally be brought.

31. Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with any product-specific terms and our:

form the agreement governing purchases made through Apothecary Journal.
